Chris Shaw

Shaw joined the Ashford University Sports Information Office in September of 2011 after having spent the previous two years as the Sports Communication Graduate Assistant at Upper Iowa University, an NCAA Division II institution located in Fayette, Iowa.

He oversees the promotion and coverage of Ashford’s 17 intercollegiate athletic programs and facilitates the maintenance of AshfordAthletics.com.

In his time at Upper Iowa, Shaw was the primary media contact for men's basketball, men's and women's soccer, softball, and women's golf while extensively assisting with UIU's seven other athletic programs.  He served as Upper Iowa's primary statistician, wrote releases and recaps and maintained Upper Iowa's official athletic website.  In addition, he was instrumental in aiding UIU's advance to social media and assisted with the planning of the Peacock Golf Classic, an annual fundraising golf tournament.

Prior to becoming a graduate assistant for the Peacocks, Shaw worked as a work study student assistant at Upper Iowa and at the University of Northern Iowa where he was the primary contact for women's swimming and diving and assisted with the Panther Football team during their run to the FCS National Semi-finals in 2007.

He also worked as a Sports Information Assistant during the 2008 NCAA Division II National Wrestling Championships hosted by Upper Iowa University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  During the event he assisted with many different aspects of the tournament including media relations, tournament management and design of promotional materials.

Originally from Manchester, Iowa, Shaw is a 2009 graduate of Upper Iowa University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Communications with sports emphasis.  He also earned a Master's degree in Higher Education Administration from UIU and resides in Camanche.
