KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Ashford University defensemen Geraldo Garza has landed on the 2011 NAIA Men's Soccer All-America Honorable Mention team after his magnificent play on the pitch this season. The announcement was made late Monday afternoon after the teams were selected by the NAIA Men's Soccer All-America Selection Committee.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced their NAIA Scholar-Athlete award winners for both men's and women's soccer on Friday. 485 women's soccer student-athletes and 286 men's soccer players from around the nation have received the honor which includes seven combined from Ashford University.

On the men's side a quartet of seniors landed on the award list.

AUSTIN, Texas - Webb City, Mo.-native Michael Handley added a exclamation point to his four-year career in purple and gold on Monday when the defender landed on the Capital One Academic All-America Second Team for the College Division. The award is sponsored by Capital One in conjunction with CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).

MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa - The Midwest Collegiate Conference announced its men's soccer all-conference teams Wednesday afternoon. Of the 31 student-athletes that were recognized, six of them were Ashford University Saints, including three of the 14 First Team All-Conference selections. In addition, freshman Javier Ramirez was named MCC Newcomer of the Year.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - It's something that only happens in movies. Unfortunately for the Ashford men's soccer team, the motion picture played out in reality.

Third-seeded and #23-ranked Ashford looked poised to cap off a run through the Midwest Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Tournament with a championship on Thursday in Cedar Rapids. However, the top-seeded Mustangs of Mount Mercy had other thoughts.
