CLINTON – Six members of the Ashford University baseball team were included on a list of 257 student-athletes from around the country who were named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes for the 2013-14 season on Wednesday (May 28) afternoon.
BOSTON, Mass. – The Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) handed out its all-conference awards on Wednesday night at the A.I.I. Baseball Championships banqet.
Three teams were selected with a trio of Saints named to the squads. Freshman catcher Tyler Davis was named First Team All-A.I.I. and conference Co-Freshman of the Year while senior pitcher Ian Hamilton and junior outfielder Tanner Courtney garnered Honorable Mention All-A.I.I. accolades.
DES MOINES, Iowa – The Ashford University baseball team wrapped up the 2014 season on Friday afternoon, taking on the Vikings of Grand View University at Luhrs Complex in the Iowa state capitol.
Grand View got a run late in game one to sneak away with a 2-1 win before finishing the sweep with a 5-2 win in the back end of the double header.
LACROSSE, Wis. – The Ashford University baseball team headed north to open a season-ending four-game road swing on Thursday (Apr. 24), opening with a showdown against the V-Hawks of Viterbo University.
Game one was delayed by three hours due to rain but when the teams hit the diamond, the Saints used a three-run first inning to set the tone on their way to a 6-0 win in five innings. Game two was called off due to darkness.
CLINTON – For the final time this year, the Ashford University baseball team took to the friendly confines of Ashford University Field, hosting the Mustangs of Mt. Mercy University on Senior Day.
Both games were dominated by pitching on both sides, but the it was the Mustangs who wound up spoiling the Saints' final home appearance of the year. Mt. Mercy took the first game in nine innings, 3-2, before completing the sweep with a 4-1 win in game two.
