MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Ashford University men's and women's tennis teams hit the court on Saturday, Aug. 30, for their fall openers against the Wolves of Cardinal Stritch University.
The Ashford men would get their fall started off on the right foot with a hard-fought 6-3 win over the Wolves. The Ashford women would give the Wolves all they could handle before ultimately falling, 9-0.
CLINTON – With the beginning of his team's fall season on the horizon, Ashford University head tennis coach Chad Fenwick is pleased to announce the signings of the four newest members of the AU tennis team.
Incoming freshmen Tommy Tyler (Wauconda, Ill.) and Kevin Murphy (Spokane, Wash.) will join an already deep men's tennis team while freshman Rachel Gantz (Waukesha, Wis.) and sophomore Carolina Monterrubio (Mexico City, Mexico) will hit the courts for the Ashford women in 2014-15.
CLINTON – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the list of the 2014 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete awards for men's and women's tennis. A total of 195 student-athletes from around the country were honored, with a pair of Ashford University tennis players among the recognized.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A spot in the finals of the NAIA Unaffiliated Grouping was on the line on Saturday afternoon when the third-seeded Ashford University women's tennis team took on the group's second seed, #20-ranked Northwestern Ohio.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Post-season play began for the Ashford University men's and women's tennis teams on Friday afternoon at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Regional Qualifier, hosted by Davenport University.
The third-seeded Ashford women moved on to Saturday's semifinals after picking up a 5-0 win over sixth-seeded St. Ambrose University. However, the AU men would not have the same success, falling in their quarterfinal showdown with Indiana Tech, 5-1.
