DUBUQUE, Iowa – Fresh off the program's first ever win over a top-five team in the nation, the Ashford University volleyball team looked to build on that momentum on Tuesday (Sept. 16) night when they faced off against the Crusaders of Clarke University.
For the second consecutive match, the Saints were pushed to a fifth and deciding game. The Saints fell behind early in the decisive set, but AU rallied to take the final game and the match to earn their ninth win in their last 10 matches.
CLINTON – After a perfect day one at the third annual Ashford University Invitational, the AU volleyball team looked to take home the tournament championship on Saturday afternoon inside Kehl Arena.
The Saints' winning streak was halted at seven matches after a four-set defeat at the hands of #5-ranked Northwestern College (Iowa) in the opener (25-23, 20-25, 25-21, 25-11), sending the Saints to the third place game.
CLINTON – The Ashford University volleyball team welcomed 11 other teams from around the NAIA to Kehl Arena on Friday (Sept. 12) for day one of the third annual Ashford University Invitational.
Playing as the top-seed in the "Green" pool, the Saints did not drop a single set on Friday, downing William Penn (25-15, 25-19, 25-14) and Cardinal Stritch (25-19, 25-20, 25-14) to improve to 13-3 on the year and extend their winning streak to seven games.
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Ashford University volleyball team matched its longest winning streak since the beginning of last season on Wednesday night, downing Mt. Mercy University in four sets for their fifth straight win.
After dropping the first set to the Mustangs, 27-25, Ashford bounced back to close out the match with wins in the final three games (25-12, 25-14, 25-18) to improve to 11-3 on the year and extend their winning streak to five games.
LACROSSE, Wis. – The Ashford University volleyball team returned to the court on Saturday and looked to make it a perfect 4-0 weekend on day two of the Viterbo University Tournament.
They would do just that, scratching their way to a five-set win over the University of St. Francis in the morning session. The afternoon contest would not be near as stressful as the Saints cruised to a straight-set win over Valley City State (N.D.).
