CLINTON – The Ashford men's basketball completed a perfect four-game homestand on Saturday (Jan. 24) afternoon, defeating Crossroads College (Minn.), 86-45, to run their winning streak to six games overall.
Junior Damon Overton led the Saints with 23 points while Tevin Harris chipped in with 17 for the Saints, who picked up their 10th win in their past 11 games to improve to 12-10 on the season.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the second time in three weeks, junior Diamontae McKinley has been named the A.I.I. Male Athlete of the Week.
A junior guard from Wauwatosa, Wis., McKinley averaged 21.3 points, three rebounds and three assists per contests, helping the Saints go a perfect 3-for-3 last week. McKinley knocked down 18-of-40 field goals over the three wins, shooting 48 percent (12-of-25) from three-point range and 94.1 percent (16-of-17) at the free throw line last week.
CLINTON – Paced by a career day from junior Dominique Walls and a monstrous second half from senior Anthony Woods, the Ashford men's basketball team picked up their third win in as many days with an 82-65 win over Silver Lake College on Sunday in Clinton.
CLINTON – Senior guard DeAndre Lowery Jr. became the ninth player in program history to hit the 1,000-point milestone on Saturday afternoon and junior Diamontae McKinley finished with a season-high 31 points in a 74-64 Ashford win over St. Ambrose University.
Senior Teance Walton also set a new season-high with 15 points and Damon Overton added 14 points for the Saints, who held off a second half rally from the Bees to improve to 10-10 on the year.
CLINTON – Playing their first of three games on three consecutive days, the Ashford men's basketball team picked up their third consecutive win on Friday night, downing Faith Baptist Bible College (Iowa), 91-49, under the bright lights inside Kehl Arena.
Junior and Wauwatosa, Wis.-native Diamontae McKinley finished with a game-high 23 points, going 9-of-12 from the floor and 5-of-6 from three-point land for his third 20-point game of the year. Senior Tevin Harris netted 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting and Dominique Walls added 11 points for the Saints, who moved to 9-10 with the win.
