LEXINGTON, Ky. – A pair of Ashford University volleyball players have received recognition from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

Freshman outside hitter Victoria Day was named AVCA NAIA All-Southwest Region Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the region's Honorable Mention squad alongside libero Samantha Schultz.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A trio of AU volleyball student-athletes have been recognized as Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Seniors Mackenzie McCutcheon and Lisa Green earned the award for the second year in a row. Joining the pair on this year's list is junior and Berwyn, Ill.-native Danielle Tombolato.

CLINTON – One day after advancing to bracket play, the Ashford Unviersity volleyball team looked to qualify for the 2013 NAIA Volleyball National Championship on Saturday.

The Saints took one step towards their goal with a sweep of #3-seed Rochester College in the afternoon session, setting up a matchup with top-seeded Cal State San Marcos in Saturday night's Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Championship.

CLINTON – Playing in front of their home crowd, the Ashford University volleyball team advanced to bracket play at the 2013 Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Tournament on Saturday.

The second-seeded Saints didn't drop a set in Pool B play, downing #5 Johnson & Wales (Colo.) in straight sets in the morning session before sweeping fourth-seeded Lindenwood University-Belleville (Ill.) in the afternoon.
