CLINTON – Head coach Kevin Jannusch and the Ashford University softball team is proud to announce the signings of Maggie Bergeson and Morgan Ammon, who will both continue their academic and athletic careers when they don the purple and gold for the 2014 season and beyond.
Bergerson, a Geneseo, Ill.-native, joins the Saints after completing a two-year stint at Black Hawk College in Moline, Ill. As a sophomore, she led the Braves to an appearance in the 2012 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II World Series after hitting .439 (75-for-171) with four home runs and 24 RBIs. She was also a threat on the base paths, going a perfect 22-for-22 in stolen base attempts on the year.
CLINTON – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced the 2013 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-Region teams late Friday afternoon. For the second year in a row, a pair of Saints earned nominations.
A total of 133 athletes from 46 NAIA schools were nominated, with freshman Paige Murray landing on the Midwest Region's First Team as the designated player. Joining Murray is sophomore Alex Bitto, who was named as one of three outfielders on the region's second team.
VICTORIA, Texas – With their season on the line, the Ashford University softball team took to the diamond on day two of the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Tournament on Thursday morning. Standing in the Saints' way was the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds, who were also looking to keep their season alive.
On a wet and windy day, the Saints saw their 2013 season come to an end, falling to the Thunderbirds, 11-0.
