BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Ashford softball team concluded their season-opening Lyon Tournament on Saturday, splitting their final two contests. The Saints (2-2) knocked off Hannibal-LaGrange, 6-5, in the first game before falling to Benedictine University at Springfield, 8-7.

BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Ashford softball teams opened up the 2012 season Friday with a split in the Lyon Tournament. Ashford took the opening contest against William Woods, 5-4, before falling to Williams Baptist, 3-0.

"It was a very good day," Ashford Head Coach Kevin Jannusch said. "Both of these teams are where we would like to be - playing in the National Tournament. I think we showed ourselves that we will be able to compete. Our effort was great."

CLINTON, Iowa - The second season under head coach Kevin Jannusch brings not only a re-tooled roster, but a reason for optimism for the Ashford softball team.

Coming off a 10-22 season in 2011, Ashford will aim to improve on that mark with 13 newcomers to the program. Ashford has been picked to finish fifth in the MCC's preseason poll, and much of that has to do with the new faces set to don purple and gold.

CLINTON, Iowa - The Ashford softball team and Head Coach Kevin Jannusch are pleased to announce the signings of two more players to the 2012 signing class.

Outfielder Allie Klasen (Tucson, Ariz./Canyon del Oro) and shortstop Heidi Riley (Billings, Mont./Skyview) and are the two newest members of the Saints' softball family, set to join the team this coming fall.
