CLINTON – The Ashford University baseball team opened a seven-game homestand on Tuesday at Ashford University Field, hosting the Vikings of Grand View University for a pair of mid-day games.

The Ashford offense recorded 18 hits on the afternoon but couldn't capitalize on their chances, stranding 23 baserunners on the day. That opened the door for the Vikings to take game one, 6-4, before completing the sweep with an 8-0 win in the second contest.

After dropping the opening game, 4-1, the Saints outlasted the Eagles in the day's second meeting, picking up a 4-3 win in 11 innings after Manny Acevedo was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Senior McKinley Portice tossed his first career complete game and three Saints drove in two runs in game one's 9-2 win. Freshman Kane Klais picked up his first career win with six strong innings in game two, a 3-1 Ashford victory.

PEOSTA, Iowa – The Ashford University baseball team was back on the road Saturday afternoon, opening a three-game set with the Crusaders of Clarke University at A.J. Spiegel Park.

The two teams played a pair of tightly contested battles, but it was the Crusaders who picked up a pair of one-run wins, taking the opener, 6-5, before winning the second game by a 5-4 score in nine innings.
