PEOSTA, Iowa – The Ashford baseball team began a regular season ending four-game road trip on Wednesday afternoon at AJ Spiegel Park for a pair of games against the Crusaders of Clarke University.

Ashford was in pursuit of the season series sweep of the Crusaders after taking the first three meetings between the two teams in Clinton. But Clarke would extract a little bit of revenge on Wednesday afternoon, taking both games of the double-header; 2-1 (9 inn.) and 8-5.

CLINTON – The Ashford baseball team put the finishing touches on their home schedule on Tuesday afternoon for a windy, offensively charged pair of games against the Bulldogs of Benedictine University at Springfield (Ill.).

The Bulldogs would claim a 13-5 win in the opener and look to rally late in game two. But the Saints were able to hang on for a 9-8 victory in the second contest to salvage the split.

CLINTON – Senior Pat Macaione tossed eight strong innings and sophomore Tyler Davis collected three RBI for the Ashford baseball team on Friday afternoon as the Saints wrapped up a five-game homestand with a 9-6 win over Clarke University.

Ashford pounded out 12 hits to improve to 20-17 on the year, wrapping up a homestand in which they took four out of five games. The Crusaders rallied for five runs in the ninth inning, but came up just short to fall to 20-18 overall.

CLINTON – The Ashford baseball team continued a five-game homestand on Wednesday afternoon with a pair of games against the Trolls of Trinity Christian College (Ill.).

After dropping a 6-3 decision in game one, the Saints would rely on a dominant pitching performance and a patient approach at the plate to pick up an 8-0 victory in game two.

CLINTON – The Ashford pitching staff surrendered only seven hits and no runs on Tuesday afternoon, sweeping Lincoln Christian University in the first two contests of a five-game homestand.

Freshman Collin Powers picked up his first career shutout, surrendering two hits in a 3-0 win in game one. In game two, senior Cory Cook earned his first win as a starter with six shutout innings in a 5-0 Ashford victory.
