CLINTON – Three Ashford University baseball student-athletes have been named Capital One Academic All-District® First-Team All-District 5, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Seniors Michael Bruns and Zach Smerz, along with sophomore R.J. Roberts, all landed on the award list, which was announced Thursday.

VICTORIA, Texas – The Ashford University baseball team was ousted from the 2013 Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Championships on Thursday, when the team suffered a 13-3 loss to Fisher College (Mass.).

The result marked AU's second loss in as many days during the double-elimination tournament.

VICTORIA, Texas – The Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) announced its all-conference baseball teams early Wednesday morning.

Four Saints landed among the pair of teams including two First-Team All-A.I.I. nods in relief pitcher Eric Musselman and outfielder Michael Bruns. Sophomore shortstop R.J. Roberts and starting pitcher Steven Sotiropoulous garnered Second Team All-A.I.I. accolades.

VICTORIA, Texas – Opening play at the 2013 Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Baseball Championships on Wednesday, the Ashford University baseball team didn't get the outcome they were looking for.

The #3-seeded Saints were defeated by the #2 seed, Louisiana State University-Alexandria, by a final score of 11-1 under sunny skies at Riverside Stadium in Victoria.

CLINTON – The 2013 regular season came to an end for the Ashford University baseball team on Sunday, Apr. 28, when the Saints and Tigers of Iowa Wesleyan College returned to Ashford University Field in Clinton.

After walking off in yesterday's second game, the Saints repeated the effort in game one on Sunday when senior Damil Reyes belted a single to right-center field, plating designated hitter Ryan Fraley and giving AU a 3-2 win. However in the AU season finale, AU pitching troubles gave the Tigers a 10-3 victory.

CLINTON – Celebrating Senior Day in Clinton, the Ashford University baseball team got off to a rocky start during Saturday's doubleheader. However in the end, AU pulled out an exciting game two to salvage a split with Iowa Wesleyan at Ashford University Field.

IWC won game one, 5-1, before the Saints struck in the ninth inning of game two to earn a 6-5 walk-off victory in the finale.

PEOSTA, Iowa – Entering the final week of the regular season, the Ashford University baseball team took to the field for the final time as visitors Tuesday afternoon when it visited A.J. Spiegel Park in Peosta.

The Saints lined up against the Clarke University Crusaders and split the doubleheader. AU won game one, 5-2, before falling in the second game, 6-3.

CLINTON – The Ashford University baseball team announced time adjustments to its weekend home stand on Monday.

The Saints, scheduled for a four-game home set against Iowa Wesleyan College, have moved their Saturday (Apr. 27) doubleheader up to 1 p.m. The games were originally scheduled for 6 p.m.

CLINTON – Despite a career-long outing from senior pitcher Ryan Bumphrey, the Ashford University baseball team dropped a Tuesday night game to the Clarke University Crusaders.

Kewanee, Ill.-native Bumphrey logged eight innings of work and set a career-high with six punch-outs in the game, but the Ashford bats struggled to mount a rally in a 3-2 loss.

DAVENPORT, Iowa – At home or on the road, the last two weeks has been a stretch to remember for the Ashford University baseball team.

That hot stretch continued Tuesday afternoon when the team visited Modern Woodman Park in Davenport for a doubleheader against the Fighting Bees of St. Ambrose University. Ashford used a six-run fifth inning in the opener to win 9-1 before shutting out St. Ambrose in the finale, 4-0.
