[Golf] Men Second, Women Fifth at AU Spring Invite

RIVERSIDE, Iowa – As hosts of the weekend's festivities, play concluded for the Ashford golf teams at the Ashford University Spring Invitational on Saturday afternoon, Apr. 6, at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course.

The #25-ranked Ashford men came up just short in their quest for a third consecutive win, finishing in second place with a 597 (289-308), two shots behind the top team. Meanwhile, the AU women finished with a 718 (349-369), good for fifth overall.

CLINTON – Four tournament championships and four medalist honors would be considered a success for a golf program over the course of an entire season. When those accolades are achieved in the fall alone, it is no wonder the Ashford men's and women's golf teams are chomping at the bit to get back on the course this spring.

QUINCY, Ill. – The Ashford golf teams concluded the Culver-Stockton Wildcat Invitational on Monday, and each squad left the Gem City with some hardware as a result.

Senior Chien Hau Tan earned the first medalist honors of his AU career for the men and the Saints took the top team spots. The men were nine shots better than second place Hannibal-LaGrange with a score of 589 (296-293), while the women finished 11 strokes better than their closest competition with a two-day total of 722 (364-358).

MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa - The Midwest Collegiate Conference announced on Wednesday that a pair of Ashford University golfers have been named to the leagues' postseason all-conference teams.

Senior Brittany Boon was named MCC Women's Golfer of the Year and collected All-MCC accolades while junior Chien Hau Tan earned Honorable Mention All-MCC honors in men's golf.
