Student Athlete Ambassador Board
Student-Athlete Ambassador Board (SAAB)
Devised, organized and strategized, by Saints' women's basketball head coach Amy Eagan, the Ashford University Student-Athlete Ambassador Board (SAAB) is a committee made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The SAAB also offers input on the rules, regulations and policies, that affect student-athletes' lives on the NAIA member institution campuses.
NAIA Div. II SAAB Mission Statement
The mission of the NAIA Div. II Student-Athlete Ambassador Board is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity for all student-athletes; protecting student-athlete welfare; and fostering a positive student-athlete image.

Members of the 2011-12 Ashford University Student-Athlete Ambassador Board
Purpose of NAIA Div. II SAAB
- Generate a student-athlete voice within the NAIA structure
- Solicit student-athlete response to proposed NAIA legislation
- Recommend potential NAIA legislation
- Review, react and comment, to the governance structure on legislation, activities and subjects of interest
- Actively participate in the administrative process of athletics programs and the NAIA
- Promote a positive student-athlete image
Role of Institution's SAAB Representative
The role of the institution's SAAB representative is to be present and an active participant at all institutional SAAB meetings as well as work as a liaison between the student-athletes from their team and the institution's SAAB.
Campus SAAB Board and Duties
Terms of office and election procedures should be determined. It is recommended that each member of the Board represent a different sport team on campus. The duties are outlined as follows:
President
- Presides over meetings
- Serves as liaison to the institution's department of athletics
- Functions as spokesperson for institution's student-athletes
- Presides over meetings when chair is absent
- Oversees subcommittees that may be formed as a response to the needs of the student-athletes
- Exercises all functions of the president in the absence of the chair
- Performs all duties which are required of the office by the committee
- Responsible for keeping attendance records
- Responsible for a summary of the minutes of the meetings and historical record
- Responsible for submitting budget requests
- Responsible for keeping written records of any money spent and/or taken in by SAAB
