Josh Davis
looks to continue his unprecedented success with the AshfordUniversity
women's golf program this fall as he prepares to begin his second year as head
coach. Davis accepted the boys' basketball coaching
position at CamancheHigh School in mid-June,
but retained his status with the AU women's golf team.
In 2008-09,
Davis guided
the Saints' lady linksters to an overall third-place Midwest Collegiate
Conference finish and several high performances including a team win at the
Loras College Invitational, runner-up efforts at the Mustang Stableford Classic
and Clarke College Invitational and third-place efforts at both fall/spring
sessions of the MCC Tournament and the St. Ambrose Spring Invitational.
He oversaw
the advancement of sophomore Jordan Davis becoming the first golfer in school
history, male or female, to qualify for the NAIA National Championships. The Davises teamed up for a 36th-place performance in Rapid City, S.D.,
becoming the conference's top finisher and clearing a daunting 54-hole cut.
Davis originally rejoined Ashford in the
fall of 2008, serving as assistant men's basketball coach under Head Coach Andy
Eberhart for his second stint with the Saints. He was previously the Head Coach
for ClintonCommunity College.
Originally from Clinton, Iowa,
Davis was a four-year starter for CornellCollege,
a Div. III school in Mount Vernon,
Iowa. While at Cornell, Davis led the team in
several categories, including steals and assists.
Upon completion of his career, he coached basketball and golf at the high
school level where he made a state tournament appearance with NortheastHigh School
in both sports.
Davis currently resides in Camanche, Iowa,
with his wife, Hillary, and son, Braden.
