Josh Heiple - Head Coach - 3rd Season

Heiple officially joined the Ashford athletic department as the men's golf head coach in early August of 2010 and will begin his fourth season at the helm. He was elevated to the same position of head coach for the women's golf program following its remarkable postseason run that included a Midwest Collegiate Conference (MCC) title and a trip to the NAIA National Championships.

Most recently, Heiple guided AU’s transition from the Midwest Collegiate Conference (MCC) to the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) by assembling the most competitive men’s golf team in school history.  The Saints concluded the season as the #25-ranked squad in the country, and were ranked as high as #23 earlier in the season.

It marked the first men’s golf ranking in school history.

Behind Second Team All-American Chien Hau Tan, the Saints notched six team championships during the 2012-13 season and registered a third-place finish at the 2013 A.I.I. Men’s Golf Championships held in Victoria, Texas.

Originally from Sturgis, Mich., Heiple previously spent the past three years as the head men's golf coach of the Glen Oaks Community College in Centerville, Mich., before joining the Saints' staff.

During that time Heiple helped rebuild a program from the brink of extinction into a top-10 nationally ranked program. He also tutored his players to numerous All-Conference and All-Region accolades while at the helm.

Before that, Heiple spent two years as a student assistant for the Western Michigan University women's golf program while he was working toward his degree. In that same time frame, Heiple was the Tournament Director for the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 12.

Heiple played collegiate golf and was a letterwinner at the University of Northern Iowa from 1997-2001. He also received extensive playing experience on reputable tours such as the Tight Lies Tour, Hooters Tour and Canadian Tour, in a four-year span.

Heiple obtained his Bachelor of Science with emphasis in Communication and Business from Western Michigan University after transferring from the University of Northern Iowa. He currently resides in Richland, Mich., with his wife, Brooke, and daughter, Sophia.
