An off-season coaching change brought Eagan back to the sidelines as a head coach, and she is more than ready for her first season to begin.
"I am extremely excited for my first season at Ashford University," said Eagan. "I know there will be some bumps and bruises with taking over a program and getting everything set, but I think I have a great group of student-athletes with a lot of potential. What we accomplish this year will be in their hands as I know I will prepare them and give them all the opportunity to succeed."
After a pair of scrimmages in late October, the Saints hit the Kehl Arena court for the first of 12 home games in a Nov. 2 matchup with Trinity International University.
Following a two-day tournament at Purdue Calumet University, the month of November ends with a five-game stretch featuring home games against Graceland University (Nov. 12), Olivet Nazarene University (Nov. 13), and a road visit to 2010 NAIA tournament qualifier Cardinal Stritch University (Nov. 23).
"I do think that the non-conference competition will be tough, but that will give us a good idea of where we need to continue to make improvements in practice in order to prepare for conference schedule," Eagan said.
The Saints will then kick off December with the first Midwest Collegiate Conference game of the season, a home contest against Eagan's former school, St. Ambrose University, on Dec. 1.
The
Saints will travel to Calumet College of St. Joseph (Dec. 10-11) for another two-day
tournament before going on a 14-game stretch of conference games to close out
the regular season. Feb. 12 marks the final home game of the season against
defending conference champion and NAIA tournament qualifier Iowa Wesleyan College.
