CLINTON, Iowa - The emerging Ashford University women's track and field and cross country programs continued to build depth for this upcoming season, announcing the commitment of Ann Chezem, a product of Plainfield, Ill.

Chezem, who attended Plainfield South High School, is also slated to compete for the Saints' track and field program.

"We are excited about Ann adding depth to what could be a very successful season with dedication and improvement from the team," AU cross country Head Coach Tyson Graham said. "She has shown improvement throughout her high school career in a well-known conference."

Chezem served as a two-year captain for the Plainfield South, receiving all-conference recognition her junior year as a member of the state qualifying 4x400 and 4x800-meter relay units.

Chezem was also voted team MVP by her teammates in a stellar junior year, where she clocked a personal record of 19:45 during the cross country season. She was named the Enterprise Sun's Female Athlete of the Week during her senior year, a season that also included the Varsity Leadership Award.

Chezem was a four-year letterwinner in both cross country and track while at Plainfield South.

Chezem, accompanied by her grandparents Richard Gatzke and Delores Nissen on her signing day ceremony, will begin her pursuit of a degree in Business this fall.
