CLINTON, Iowa - The Ashford University baseball team continued a marquee recruiting spree for the upcoming season and announced its latest signing, left-handed starting pitcher Patrick Macaione (pronounced Mack-ee-o-nee) of Norridge, Ill.
Macaione is projected to boost the Saints' arms rotation and he joins a former Ridgewood High School teammate, soon-to-be junior infielder Michael Caravia, who also lists his hometown as Norridge.
"Patrick boosts our depth of arms and we're excited to have him on board for the future," AU Head Coach John Govek said. "He projects as a very talented left-handed thrower and a starter. We look forward to seeing Patrick continue his success at the next level."
Macaione was a three-time all-conference selection at Ridgewood High School, while earning all-area status during his senior year.
Macaione, the son of Andy and Lisa Macaione, aspires to major in Physical Education when he begins class this fall at Ashford.
