CLINTON, Iowa - The Ashford University women's golf program and Head Coach Josh Davis added a one of Illinois' top prep golfers to next fall's roster earlier this month, signing local standout Courtney Gieseman of Coal Valley, Ill.
"Courtney is a tremendous athlete that will be a positive addition to our program," said Davis. "She has had great success at the high school level and there is no doubt that it will translate into success at the college level. She works very hard, has a great competitive spirit and she will definitely help us in our push toward a conference title."
Gieseman, who also played basketball and ran track, enjoyed a tremendous prep career at Rock Island Alleman High School, capturing medalist honors at the Western Big 6 Conference meet and leading the Pioneers to a fourth place team finish during her senior year.
Gieseman was also named to the Illinois All-State team after she placed third at her Regional and qualified for the Illinois state tournament.
As a junior, Gieseman played in the Colorado State Golf Championships for her former high school, Thunder Ridge.
The daughter of Tim and Linda Gieseman, Gieseman enjoys listening to music, hanging out with friends and running, when she isn't on the links. She is a prospective Psychology major when she arrives to campus.
