CLINTON, Iowa - The Ashford University track and field team announced it collected a high-caliber commitment from Iowa Central Community College junior transfer and NJCAA national qualifier Justin Ludwikowski of Roland.

"Justin will be a big part of our program next year in the javelin, decathlon and hurdles," AU assistant coach Tyson Graham said. "At a height of 6-7, he has a lot of potential in both the multi's events and throws and has had a successful career thus far in hurdles at Iowa Central."

"Justin's personal records in all three of the events are near the top of the conference and potentially (NAIA) national qualifier material as well," Graham added. "He also has potential to score us points at conference in shot put and pole vault."

Ludwikowski was a prep standout while at Roland Story High School, qualifying for the Iowa state meet as a junior as a member of the 110-meter hurdle relay unit. For an encore, he then qualified for the prestigious Drake Relays in Des Moines his senior year in the 110-meter hurdles.

At Iowa Central, Ludwikowski earned the distinction of being a two-time NJCAA Academic All-American.

His versatility helped him garner honors on all levels, ultimately being named Second-Team All-Region in javelin, Honorable Mention All-Region in Decathlon, Honorable Mention All-Region in Pole Vault, all in his first year at Iowa Central.

Ludwikowski is coming off a standout sophomore year at ICCC, where he was a First-Team All-Region Javelin honoree and a national qualifier in the event.

Ludwikowski, the son of Allen and Sheila Ludwikowski, intends to continue his pursuit of a degree in Business when he starts class at Ashford this fall.
