CLINTON, Iowa - As the summer days come and go, the Ashford University women's cross country program is already preparing for the fall season by continuing to hit the recruiting trail, most recently with the commitment of Jessica Windett of Bryon, Ill.
Windett is the second athlete to commit to head coach Tyson's Graham's program recently, joining Cailtlin Kuehn of Durant.
"Jessica is a great pick up and comes from a quality program that is coming off a state championship win in track and field," said AU head coach Tyson Graham. "We are excited Jessica has chosen Ashford because she has the potential to be a key runner for our program."
Windett, also a four-year varsity soccer player, was a member of a Tigers cross country program that placed sixth in their sectional during her junior season. Last fall, Windett was a key contributor to a 10th-place overall finish at the state meet for Byron High School.
Off the paths, Windett was named an Illinois State Scholar during her junior and senior years for her academic performances in the classroom.
A prospective Computer Graphic Design major when she arrives to campus, Windett enjoys writing, sketching and reading. She chose Ashford over Augustana College and St. Xavier University.
