CLINTON, Iowa - The Ashford University women's bowling program continued to shore up the roster for its first season beginning this fall, announcing the commitment of Quad Cities prep standout Amber Meyers of Rock Island, Ill.

Meyers joins the core of first year Head Coach Brian Swanson's squad that is shaping up nicely along now with fellow newcomers Camryn Simmons of Fulton, Ill., and Alyssa Weeks of Morrison, Ill., also on board.

Meyers was a four-year varsity member of Rock Island High School's bowling team.

"We are excited about getting Amber on board at Ashford in our first year of competition," Swanson said. "Her track record in high school is proven at a very high level and we know she can make an immediate impact for us this fall."

On the lanes, Meyers helped Rock Island to the Illinois state tournament in her senior year while placing 11th overall individually. She made the cut for the second straight day after the top two teams originally from sectionals advanced to the state meet.

Coached by James Braet, Meyers chose to attend Ashford over interest from St. Ambrose University.

The daughter of Ray Meyers and Kimberly Henkle, Meyers aspires to focus her studies in Biology when she enrolls this fall.
