Senior slugger Jessie Rosenow was named to the Honorable Mention All-MCC Team

MT. PLEASANT, Iowa - Following a breakout senior year, Ashford University's Jessie Rosenow of Erie, Ill., was recognized by the Midwest Collegiate Conference and its coaches as all-conference honors were unveiled earlier this morning.

Rosenow, an honorable mention all-league choice, closed out the season with strong performances at the plate, ending the season with a team-leading batting average of .349 and had impressive defensive numbers to contribute to her standout senior season.

"Jessie is a great representative of the Ashford softball program and she is a great kid on and off the field," said AU Head Coach Kyle Yore. "She was a statistical leader for us but more than that she was an emotional leader as well."

In addition to leading the Saints in batting average, Rosenow posted the top slugging percentage (.470), on-base percentage (.438), runs batted in (17) and home run totals (3), while playing in 36 games.

Rosenow, a transfer from Carl Sandburg College, also showed that she could be patient at the plate as well, drawing a team-high 11 walks throughout the year and stole three bases.

With a 4-for-4, three-RBI performance against Waldorf College on Senior Day, Rosenow helped the Saints put a stop to a 15-game conference skid with a 7-4 win over the Warriors.

The next day, Rosenow collected four RBI on three hits in a winning effort against Trinity Christian College to help the Saints win their 11th game of the year.

Defensively, Rosenow posted a .972 fielding percentage on 143 total chances playing first base during the season. Rosenow also had a team-high 132 putouts and had a hand in turning six double plays as well.

Thirty-seven athletes were recognized as part of the all-conference teams as voted by coaches within the conference this season, as William Penn University infielder Tyanna Helton won her second consecutive MCC Player of the Year Award. Mt. Mercy College brought some two top awards as well, as Becca Smith won MCC Pitcher of the Year and Head Coach Glenn Johnson was tabbed as the MCC Coach of the Year.
