AMES, Iowa - The Ashford University softball team will enter postseason play this weekend as the eighth seed in the Midwest Collegiate Conference Tournament, the league announced late this afternoon.

The Saints will be in Oskaloosa for the opening pod, a new "last team standing" format drawn up by the MCC coaches and officials, and face No. 5 seed St. Ambrose University on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Respective pods are being hosted in Cedar Rapids by Mt. Mercy College, Des Moines by Grand View University and Oskaloosa by William Penn University.

The last team standing in each pod, along with the top-ranked regular season team of the remaining six schools, will advance to the double-elimination final four pod next weekend in Ames.
