CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Junior Jordan Davis (84-82--166) of Delmar grabbed her fourth win of the year and the Ashford University women's golf team placed third in a 10-team field to open the spring season at the Mt. Mercy Invitational over the weekend.

Sophomore Brittany Boon of Bloomington, Ill., was just three strokes off Davis' pace, coming in with a fourth-place effort.

The Saints carded a team score of 727 (358-369) at the par-72, 5,186-yardage layout at Hunters Ridge Golf Course to finish ahead of four other schools from the Midwest Collegiate Conference.

Ashford trailed St. Olaf College (Minn.) for top team honors by 17 strokes. Carleton College (Minn.) finished as the runner-up with a cumulative score of 707.

"I am pleased with our overall individual performance from our first spring meet," AU Head Coach Josh Davis said. "We had two outstanding individual efforts from Jordan (Davis) and Brittany (Boon). They continue to be good leaders for our team."

"I'm excited to see if we can make improvements heading into the conference meet in a few weeks," he added. "We'll have a great chance to do well."

After winning three titles in the fall, Jordan Davis finished with a two-day total of 166 (84-82) to bring home her fourth individual title this year alone. She qualified for the NAIA Championships last season and made the vaunted 54-hole cut in Rapid City, S.D.

Sophomore Felicia Scott of Waterloo returned to competition and finished 32nd overall after posting a 95 in first-round play.

Freshmen Ashley Crawford of Rockford, Ill., (104-98--202), Megan Wagner of Preston (96-108--204) and Alanna Harris of Bloomington-Normal, Ill., (104-104--208) round out the Saints' respective scoring totals.

Ashford is back in action on Thursday for the Augustana Invitational at Emeis Golf Course.
