CLINTON, Iowa - The inaugural season for the Ashford University men's bowling program is just a few months from getting underway and the roster continued to take form with the recent addition of Tyler Vermeer of Pella.
Vermeer signifies the fifth signing for AU Head Coach Brian Swanson as the Saints load up for competition in the fall. He joins Ed Bowers of Bettendorf, Zach Huff of Davenport and Clinton products Kyle Jackson and Anthony Motroni, on the men's side.
"We're excited about how the roster is taking shape and really putting us in a position to be successful," Swanson said. "Tyler is another building block for a bright future with our program in its first season."
Vermeer participated in multiple sports at Pella Christian High School, including football, basketball, baseball and golf. He picked up bowling at the high school level as a junior and went on to become a First-Team All-Conference performer in the lanes and on the links with the golf team.
Vermeer chose Ashford over interest from William Penn University and aspires to major in Accounting when he enrolls at Ashford. He is the son of Doug and Shirley Vermeer.
"I'm excited to begin my collegiate career at Ashford and try to make an impact," he remarked. "It's an exciting time for me as I move on to the next part of my life."
