CLINTON, Iowa - Ashford University bowling Head Coach Brian Swanson continued to add local talent for his squad's inaugural season this fall, the newest addition in Ed Bowers of Bettendorf.
Bowers is the fourth official men's bowling commitment for the Saints, joining Clinton High School products Anthony Motroni and Kyle Jackson and Scott Community College transfer Zach Huff.
"We're very happy to get Ed on board and be a part of something special here at Ashford," Swanson said. "Our roster is starting to fill out and take form, just one of many things that will help make us successful in the near future."
Bowers was an all-conference bowler in his senior year at Bettendorf High School, also earning high honors academically in the classroom for all four years. He was coached at Bettendorf by Mike Kelly.
Bowers had a number of schools in pursuit for his services in the lanes, including Midwest Collegiate Conference counterparts St. Ambrose University and William Penn University. He was a member of Bettendorf's baseball team as a junior and picked up bowling in eighth grade.
"Bowling is a sport that is clearly on the rise in the Midwest and I'm excited to pursue a collegiate career here at Ashford," Bowers said.
Bowers plans on majoring in accounting while at Ashford.
