PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The Ashford University women's soccer team continued an impressive offseason by surpassing competition over the weekend on the campus of University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
Ironically, the Saints beat another group of Saints in the finals, after each team eliminated respective Wisconsin-Platteville split squads in the semifinals. A total of eight teams were present in the annual tourney.
Stats were not kept at the tournament.
Head Coach Mick Regan sent out assistant coach Krysti Walker with both teams as they finished first and runner-up, respectively.
"In these types of games, I think the leaders really come out, especially when we're training hard in the offseason," Regan said. "It's the scenario you want. We had two teams reach the finals and you never want to be happy losing."
Ashford had recently finished runner-up at the Loras College Tournament in Dubuque and was able to achieve a little bit of regular-season revenge against UWP, who defeated the Saints last fall in overtime, on Oct. 20.
