CLINTON, Iowa - The Ashford University men's bowling program continued to stockpile talent for its inaugural season in the fall, signing Davenport native Zach Huff for the future in recent history.

Huff becomes AU Head Coach Brian Swanson's third signing to the Saints' bowling program, joining Clinton High School teammates Kyle Jackson and Anthony Motroni.

"Zach is an extremely good bowler and he could potentially fill an immediate spot and be successful," Swanson said. "He's another national qualifer and he's bowled on collegiate conditions and at a very high level. I'm looking for Zach to be a leader and step in and bowl successfully."

Huff is a current freshman at Scott Community College in Davenport. He completed his prep career at Davenport West High School, where he was a two-time Iowa state qualifier.

Huff was also runner-up in the state meet as a junior and qualified for the prestigious USBC Junior Gold Championships in Indianapolis, Ind., the site where Swanson initially met his newest signee.

"It's an exciting time for me to pick out a school and help the program at Ashford develop," said Huff, who decided on the Saints over William Penn University. "I'm looking forward to contributing and getting our team off to a good start."

Huff has been coaching bowling for five years at Leisure Lanes and has served as a member of Davenport West's varsity bowling team for all four years. He teamed up with a friend to take first place in the city team tournament and was the city tournament roll-off individual champion last year.

Huff reports that he has bowled two perfect games of 300 in his high school career.

Huff, the son of Judd Huff and Rhonda Day, is planning to major in Criminal Justice while pursuing a minor in Accounting while at Ashford.
