FOREST CITY, Iowa - The latest loss for the Ashford University women's basketball team is a tough one to swallow.

A 14-point halftime advantage for the Saints slowly faded into the second half and turned into an unfortunate ending on Saturday as AU dropped its fifth straight, 67-62, to Waldorf College in Hanson Fieldhouse.

The Saints (8-18, 2-12 MCC) ceded the regular-season series to the Warriors (10-17, 5-9 MCC), who extended their win streak to four games.

Senior guard Kelly Fisher of Fremont, Calif., recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Senior forward Shel'si Weaver of Beloit, Wis., added 13 points off the bench.

Just like Thursday's non-conference game at Trinity International University, Ashford controlled the tempo, leading from the opening tip until halftime. The Saints led the Warriors by as much as 15 after a jumper by junior guard Kayla Crist of Stanwood.

Crist scored seven of her 10 points in the first half.

A 3-pointer by junior guard Jordan Davis of Delmar gave Ashford its first double-digit lead at the 8:11 mark.

Senior Jessie Rosenow of Erie, Ill., had the Saints up by 14 after scoring the last bucket of the first half. She also scored the game's first field goal.

Waldorf opened the second half with a 13-2 run to cut into the lead as the Saints struggled to establish offensive rhythm with four missed shots and a pair of turnovers.

Mollie Franzen gave Waldorf its first lead with just over six minutes remaining with a trey. But there would be four ties and seven lead changes following Franzen's basket.

Rachel Hannam broke open the game's fourth tie in the late stages, hitting the front end of a 1-and-1 opportunity at the foul line with 30 seconds left on the clock.

Hannam hit just 3-of-6 tries from the charity stripe in the final minute, but AU missed pair of free attempts and a layup as time ran out.

Hannam finished with 19 points and 15 rebounds.

The Saints return to Kehl Arena next Wednesday for Senior Night against St. Ambrose University.
