CLINTON, Iowa - The Ashford University baseball program was proud to announce the addition of St. Paul, Minn., native Josh Brandt to the staff as graduate assistant coach for the upcoming season.
Brandt is a recent graduate of Loras College in Dubuque and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports Management in December. He started working with Saints' Head Coach John Govek and assistant coach Brian Swanson as practice got underway this week.
Brandt underwent Tommy John surgery in the summer of 2008, ending a short career as a pitcher at Briar Cliff University and Loras College. He spent the last two years serving on the DuHawks' coaching staff as a student assistant.
"I'd really like to get into coaching and thought this position at Ashford University would be a good opportunity," Brandt said. "The season is right around the corner and I'm ready to help the team win in any capacity I can."
Brandt will assist Govek in all aspects of the program including recruiting while serving as a specialist with the Ashford pitching staff.
