MT. PLEASANT, Iowa - Although a 12-win season came to an unwanted end over the weekend for the Ashford University women's soccer team, the Midwest Collegiate Conference kept one of the best seasons in school history in high regard as the annual all-conference teams were unveiled today.

A total of 30 student-athletes were voted by the league's coaches to the all-conference teams, including 14 to the First Team and an additional 16 to the Honorable Mention Team.

The Saints tied St. Ambrose University with the most players on the First Team with four and had another selected to the Honorable Mention team.

"I'm very proud of our players that were selected and it shows that the quality is not going unnoticed," AU Head Coach Mick Regan said. "It also shows that we play good soccer and have some players that really catch the eye. We play the game the way it's supposed to be played and that's what happens when you get four players on the first team."

Freshman center midfielder Chelsea Fisher of Calgary, Alberta, capped off her impressive rookie campaign with a First Team All-MCC selection. Fisher led the Saints with 25 points (9 G, 7 A) and lived up to the playmaker billing Regan had designated when she was recruited from Central Memorial High School.

Junior team captain Cassandra Broderick of Davenport came on strong in the second half of the season, recording a pair of multi-goal games on three occasions. She finished with nine goals and six assists.

A pair of defenders landed on the First Team All-MCC squad in senior defender Samantha Green of Clinton and junior goalkeeper Kylie Willet of East Moline, Ill.

In her first year as a starter, Willet recorded six shutouts and helped AU to an 8-1 record in the month of September. Green kept the opposition at bay on the perimeter with her speed and was a big part of the Saints' defensive success.

Reigning MCC Newcomer of the Year Abbye Garcia of Stillman Valley, Ill., made the Honorable Mention team as an encore in her sophomore season. She compiled eight assists and eight goals.
