DAVENPORT, Iowa - With upset on the mind, the Ashford University (12-6-1, 4-3-1 MCC) women's soccer team had its season come to a close on Saturday against St. Ambrose University in the Midwest Collegiate Conference Tournament semifinals, falling 3-0.

The fifth-seeded Saints were limited to just four shots on Saturday after pulling a quarterfinal upset last weekend at No. 4 Viterbo University. St. Ambrose advanced to the MCC Championship match and will face No. 3 seed Grand View University on Wednesday.

AU had played the Queen Bees tough in the regular season meeting with SAU pulling out the game-winning shot with just over six minutes remaining in regulation.

"St. Ambrose is the best team in our conference by far and their intensity was something we haven't seen this year," AU Head Coach Mick Regan said. "We gave up an early goal off a set piece that was frustrating, but our offense wasn't really clicking on all cylinders."

The early goal Regan referred to came off the leg of SAU's Molly Rockrohr eight minutes into the first half.

Scoring dynamo and SAU's MCC points leader Ashley Dexter scored a pair of goals in the second half in the 48th minute and 89th minute.

AU goalkeeper Kylie Willet of East Moline, Ill., saved eight shots as SAU put 11 shots on goal.

Saints' forwards Cassandra Broderick of Bettendorf, Chelsea Fisher of Calgary, Alberta, and Abbye Garcia of Stillman Valley, Ill., each recorded shots on goal that were saved by Lauren Gunawan.

"We had a very good season and have a very young squad returning for next year," Regan said. "I'm very happy with the way we played and we'll be looking to take that step forward to get to the next level on the national stage."
