
MT. PLEASANT, Iowa - The Ashford University women's soccer team's quarterfinal upset win over Viterbo University didn't go unnoticed by the Midwest Collegiate Conference as forward Cassandra Broderick of Bettendorf and goalkeeper Kylie Willet of East Moline, Ill., earned respective offensive/defensive player of the week honors.
Broderick scored two goals and had a pair of assists in Sunday's win over the V-Hawks to open the MCC Tournament.
Willet made
four saves in net while facing 11 Viterbo shots to advance AU to the semifinals
against No. 1 seed
The selection was the second league honor this year for both players.
Broderick earned offensive honors for the week of Oct. 19 when she scored three goals and added an assist in conference wins against William Penn University and Waldorf College.
Willet earned both MCC and NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week recognition the week of Sept. 14 as Ashford upended then-No. 8 Trinity Christian College on the road, 1-0.
