FOREST CITY, Iowa - The Ashford University (13-0-2, 5-0-2 MCC) men's soccer team posted another win in shutout fashion to keep an unbeaten season alive on the road against Waldorf College (4-13, 0-8 MCC) on Saturday, 8-0.

The Saints remain a half game behind Grand View University in the Midwest Collegiate Conference standings. A critical match lies ahead between Viterbo University and Grand View next weekend as AU makes its bid for a regular-season title.

Bringing back memories of Family Weekend (Sept. 12) earlier this year against Calumet College of St. Joseph, brothers Eddie and Geraldo Garza of Rockford, Ill., filled the net again against the Warriors' defense.

Garza recorded his second hat trick of the season with a pair of first-half goals and completed the feat in the second half with an unassisted score in the 64th minute that gave Ashford a 5-0 cushion.

His first goal of the game at the 33:41 mark was aided by senior Taylor Shipman's first assist of the season.

The senior currently leads the team in goals with 11 and had recorded three goals against Knox College (Sept. 19) to collect MCC Offensive Player of the Week accolades.

Freshman brother Geraldo added a pair of goals in the second half in back-to-back fashion, finding the net just two minutes apart in the 66th and 68th minutes. His second goal was assisted none other than big brother, Eddie.

Senior midfielder Mike Lentini of Belvidere, Ill., opened up the rout in the first half scoring just nine minutes in. His second goal of the year was helped by sophomore midfielder Nick De Backer of Antwerp, Belgium.

Senior forward Mike Rosselli of Bartelso, Ill., closed the match with his first goal of the year, scoring just before the 89th minute.

Ashford outshot Waldorf, 22-7, and had goalkeepers Nick Roman of Belvidere, Ill., and Daniel James of Nottingham, England, collaborated in the shutout, each playing a half in net. James made one save in the second half.

The Saints head out to University of Wisconsin-Platteville on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. non-conference matchup.
