CEDAR RAPIDS/DUBUQUE, Iowa - The combination of Ashford University women's golf junior Jordan Davis and sophomore Brittany Boon of Bloomington, Ill., captured top honors on Saturday to conclude the Mt. Mercy Best Ball Event.

AU then competed earlier today at the Clarke Invitational for three consecutive days of golf with several other Midwest Collegiate Conference schools, placing third out of six teams.

"Three days in a row of playing is hard enough and we were battling rain, wind and cold," AU Head Coach Josh Davis said. "The course (Thunder Hills Golf Course) was real challenging and our team probably left some strokes out there."

Two-person pairs were formed in the best ball format at Hunters Ridge Golf Course and each individual played their own ball with the better score written on the scorecard.

Davis and Boon edged out the pairing of Waldorf College's Mallory Lovik and Ali March with a score of 117. Both pairings ended a rain-shortened 27 holes tied and advanced to a playoff.

Viterbo University and Mt. Mercy College finished tied for the team title with respective scores of 243. Ashford tied with Waldorf for third with a 250.

As a team, the Saints finished third out of six at the Clarke Invite with an unknown collective score at the time of release.

Davis finished second at Thunder Hills with an 82 (+10), her fifth straight top-10 performance this fall that includes three individual titles and a pair of MCC Player of the Week nods.

Ashford concludes the fall season at the MCC Preview held next week on Sunday and Monday at Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo. The event is hosted by St. Ambrose University with tee-times set for 8:30 a.m.
