CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The combination of Ashford University's Jordan Davis of Delmar and Brittany Boon of Bloomington, Ill., had the women's golf team rolling in the first day of the Mt. Mercy Best Ball Event on Friday.

Inclement weather shortened Friday's round to just nine holes at Hunter's Ridge Golf Course, but Davis and Boon currently stand in first as a pair.

"The weather wasn't great today, but I'm real proud of the team for going out there and making the best of the conditions," AU Head Coach Josh Davis said. "It's unfortunate to get nine holes in today and we'll be looking to finish strong tomorrow."

Saturday's final round will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. with a full 18 holes expected to be completed. The event will be shortened to 27 holes total.
