CLINTON, Iowa - With one meet under its belt, the Ashford University women's cross country team will be competing in its first 5K event of the year at the Bradley Open on Friday. The competitive field will feature 16 teams, 189 runners and four NCAA Div. I programs.

"We should see dramatic improvements for all the ladies because we upped the intensity of the practices this week," AU Head Coach Tyson Graham said. "With the first-meet jitters gone, time to walk the course and a different race strategy, I expect some pretty good times on a relatively flat course."

Graham added senior track and field heptathlete Datisha Duncan of Burbank, Ill., to the roster in the past week. Duncan hasn't competed in a cross country event since her senior year of high school, but has been practicing with the team for a while.

Graham reported minor injuries to Chhutani Berry of Chicago (toe) and Olivia Canales of Sterling, Ill., (knee) but added they should be good to go. He is looking for improvement across the board after the Saints competed in the Augustana Early Opener to open up the fall season.
