DUBUQUE, Iowa - In its second event of the fall season, the Ashford University men's golf team finished third out of a 14-team field at the Loras College Invitational earlier today. The Saints were at The Meadows Golf Club again, a repeat venue after playing Clarke College in a two-team dual last week.
Freshman Lucas Mulholland of Mount Vernon, Iowa led the way with a 7-over-par 79, good for a four-way share of fifth place. Mulholland, also a point guard on the men's basketball team, tied with Aaron Bird (Clarke) and a pair of golfers from host Loras College. He shot an even-par 36 on the front nine.
Senior Tyler Sukut (81) of Clinton continued his transition away from the baseball diamond, finishing in a tie for 11th. Fellow senior Mike Reddersdorf (82) of Marengo, Ill., was just one shot back to take 15th and freshman Nac Huachai (88) of Windermere, Fla., made his collegiate debut. Sophomore Colt Ostrum of Mount Carroll rounded out the Saints' scoring with a 95.
Clarke's Brandon Wilson won medalist honors with a playoff win against Kyle Madson (Wisconsin Lutheran) and Ben Lehmkuhl (Clarke). Clarke won the team title with a collective score of 314 (+26).
