
KANSAS CITY, Mo. –The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) released the NABC Honors Court on Tuesday and six members of the Ashford University men's basketball team have been recognized for their academic accomplishments during the 2011-12 school year.
Seniors Peter Tanzillo, Devin Ehrich, Javier Valdez and Mitch Jankowski along with juniors Vesteinn Sveinsson and Joseph Lightfoot III all landed among the associations' list made up of student-athletes from the NAIA and all three divisions of NCAA men's basketball.
The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court, and the hardwork they exhibit in the classroom. In order to be named to the Honors Court, an athlete must meet a high standard ofacademic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:
1. Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
2. Cumulative G.P.A. of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2011-12 academic year.
3. Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
4. Member of an NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Institution.
All six helped the Saints to a 20-11 record overall during the 2011-12 season which included a 12-6 mark in Midwest Collegiate Conference action.
