CLINTON, Iowa - Head Cross Country Coach Tyson Graham and the Ashford University women's cross country team announced on Monday the addition of three new faces to the team for the fall 2012 season. Clinton, Iowa-native Audrey Griffin, along with Jaimie Towle and Brenda Baughman have inked the dotted line to continue their academic and athletic careers at AU.

Griffin, a 2012 graduate of Clinton's Prince of Peace Prep High School, comes to Ashford as an eight-time all-state selection in cross country and track and field. In cross country, Griffin was a four-time First Team All-Big East Conference selection and never finished worse than seventh individually at the Iowa State Championships in Class 1A. During her first two prep years she placed second in state before taking fourth this past fall, running a 14:44 over the 4,000-meter course.

In track and field, Griffin was a nine-time state qualifier and made the trip to Des Moines in the 1,500-meter and 3,000-meter run all four years. Her best finish at state, second place, came in the 3,000-meter run during her freshman season where she blazed to a time of 10:38.

Audrey is the daughter of John and Michelle Griffin and she plans to study biology at Ashford.

Towle comes to AU after wrapping her senior year at Somonauk High School in Somonauk, Ill. where she was a four-time Illinois State Track and Field Championships qualifier in Class 1A in the 3,200-meter run. She also qualified for the state cross country meet during her sophomore season before being named the team's most valuable runner.

In addition, Towle was a three-event participant at the Illinois Prep Top Times Classic (IPTT), an unofficial indoor state meet held annually. She qualified for the 3,200-meter run as a senior and made two appearances in the 4x800-meter relay race.

Jaimie is the daughter of Byron and Laura Towle.

Baughman, a Sheldon, Wis.-native and 2012 graduate of Flambeau High School, closed out her prep career as a three-time Wisconsin State Cross Country Championships qualifier in cross country and two-time member of the All-Lakeland Conference Team.

The Falcons finished third at the Solon Springs sectional meet this past fall, just missing out on returning to the state meet for a third consecutive season.

Brenda is the daughter of Melvin and Dolly Baughman.

Monday's announcement marks the first three women's cross country commitments for this upcoming fall.
