
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced on Thursday that four Ashford University baseball student-athletes have been named as 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Four-year pitcher Tim Elias and catcher Rafael Ordaz, alongside position players Michael Bruns and Joseph Dashek have all been honored with the award and make up four of the 259 student-athletes named on the list.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
Players
from the Midwest Collegiate Conference totaled up 12 awards, four each from
Ashford and Grand View. Azusa Pacific (Calif.) led all institutions with seven nominations.
