KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced last week its 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete award lists for men's & women's track and field and three Ashford University student-athletes have been recognized.
On the men's side, Christian Awah and Justin Ludwikowski were named alongside Heather Ketcham from the women's team. All three are making their first appearance on the prestigious lists.
All told, 605 student-athletes were named between the two teams (362 women, 243 men). Awah and Ludwikowski join a following of eight other men's representatives from the Midwest Collegiate Conference while Ketcham highlights a group of 28 other women from the MCC garnering accolades.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
