CLINTON, Iowa - Ashford University Head Coach Micah Cewe has been busy this offseason, and that trend continued on Tuesday when he announced the signing of two more student-athletes for the 2012-13 academic year. Victoria Day and Aubree Pirello have committed to continuing their academic and athletic careers as members of the AU volleyball program.

The announcement brings the total number of signed newcomers to the AU squad to ten and follows the recent additions of Danielle Rzewnicki and Nakai Green to the team, which was announced last Tuesday, Apr. 17.

Day, a Crystal Lake, Ill.-native will join the program after completing her senior season at Crystal Lake Central High School where she put together a phenomenal four-year prep career for the Tigers. She is a two-time All-Fox Valley Conference (FVC) Team selection and garnered Northwest Herald All-Area Honorable Mention honors following her senior season.

In addition, Day led CLCHS to a FVC Fox Division Championship before the team advanced to the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 3A "Super 16," before bowing out to the eventual Class 3A runners-up, Woodstock. She was named the team's most valuable player following the season.

Outside of high school volleyball, Day competes for the Sky High Volleyball Club along with future teammate Samantha Magnussen, who committed to Ashford last November.

Victoria is the daughter of Laura Zemba and was coached in high school by Laura Reddish.

Hesperia, Calif.-native Pirello is closing the book on her senior year at Sultana High School where she became a three-time varsity letterwinner in volleyball for the Sultans. Pirello is a two-time All-Mojave River League selection and was named the team's most valuable player following the season by her teammates. She also served as the team's captain during the season.

Aubree is the daughter of Francesco and Michelle Pirello and intends to declare as a liberal arts major when she enrolls at Ashford. She was coached in high school by Anna Dees.
