CLINTON, Iowa - Head Coach Amy Eagan and the Ashford women's basketball team announced today that two more student-athletes, Clare Gloede and Brittney Wilson, have committed to continuing their academic and athletic careers as members of the Saints' family.
Gloede, a native of Madison, Wis., is capping off her senior season at Madison La Follette High School where she is currently averaging 9.2 points through ten games this year. Last season, the new Saint averaged 14.2 points, four assists, three rebounds and 2.5 steals per game on her way to collecting Third Team All-Big Eight Conference accolades.
In addition, Gloede earned First Team All-City and Second Team All-Big Eight Conference honors during her sophomore season while averaging 11 points per outing.
Clare is the daughter of Carl and Denise Gloede and is coached at LHS by Liz Hrodey.
Wilson, a native of Country Club Hills, Ill., is in the midst of her senior season at Hillcrest High School where she currently averages 4.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and nearly two steals per game for the Class 3A sixth-ranked Hawks (16-2). The 5-9 guard/forward was also a part of the Hillcrest squad which lost in the IHSA Class 3A State Championship game as a junior.
Brittany is the daughter of Harold and Eulaile Wilson and plans to study business administration when she steps on campus next fall. She is coached at HHS by John Maniatis.
"We are extremely excited to have Brittney and Clare joining our women's basketball family," said Head Women's Basketball Coach Amy Eagan. "They are both high academic, high character kids and will be great additions to our team. Clare will bring some needed depth to our point guard position and Brittney will bring athleticism to our inside game."
The duo brings the women's basketball team to three commitments for the 2012-13 season after Park Falls, Wis.-native Erica Withey announced her intent earlier this fall.
