LAMONI, Iowa - The Ashford University women's cross country team concluded their regular season with a sixth place finish at the Graceland Invitational.
Much like the men, the women rested some of their racers in preparation for the conference meet. This meet served as a tune-up for the MCC Championships, as well as a chance to rest some of the team's runners.
"We want everyone healthy for the important meet," Saints Head Coach Tyson Graham said. "We had an average day. We really wanted to compete with St. Ambrose but to their credit they were always 2 steps ahead of us. But I feel that we will be better suited to compete at the MCCs with everyone present."
Leading the Saints once again was freshman Emily Paull, who placed sixth overall with a time of 20:04. Paull would be the only member of the Saints to finish in the top-10.
Junior Raven Ruger placed 32nd after clocking in at 21:35. Freshman Angela Wollbright finished just behind Ruger in 35th place with a time of 21:39.
Junior Samantha Young (40th/22:12), freshmen Ellerie Lagerhuasen (49th/23:28)and Marissa Klinger (54th/24:59) and junior Esther Conde (55th/26:04) rounded out the Saints' results.
Ashford will be back on the course in two weeks in Dubuque, Iowa for the MCC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 10:00 am.
